Para nossos filhos bilíngues, no natal

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the casa

not a creature was stirring, not even a traça.

The crianças were all tucked away in their camas,

some in vestidos and some in pijamas.

The stockings were hanging with muito cuidado,

in hopes that Saint Nicholas would feel obrigado

to bring all the children sem faltas pendentes

a nice batch of doces and other presentes.

Outside in the yard there arose such a grito,

that I jumped to my feet like a frightened cabrito.

I ran fast to look outside the janela,

and who in the world do you think that it era?

St Nick in a sleigh and a big red sombreiro

came dashing along like a crazy bombeiro!

And pulling his sleigh, instead of the renas,

were eight little burros moving a duras penas.

I watched as they came, very close to the entrada,

shouting and whistling, fazendo a chamada:

"Oi Lucas! Oi Pedro! Oi Camilla! Oi Beto!

Oi Julio! Oi Luisa! Oi Maria! Oi Neto!
"

Then standing erect with his hand on his pança,

he flew over the roofs of our own vizinhança!

With his round little belly like a sack of café,

he struggled to squeeze down our old chaminé.

Then huffing and puffing, at last in our sala,

with soot smeared all over his red suit de gala,

he filled all the stockings with lots of presentes,

for all of the kids had been obedientes.

Then chuckling aloud, seeming bem satisfeito,

he turned like a flash and was gone como o vento.

And I heard him say something muito legal:

"To all bilingual childen, um FELIZ NATAL!!"
